Kentucky TSRPS Announce Lethal Weapon Conference

The Kentucky TSRP aw enforcement in prosecutors in Lexington, Kentucky June 28-30, 2022.

The Kentucky TSRP program in conjunction with the Tennessee TSRP program is hosting the Lethal Weapon conference in Lexington, Kentucky June 28-30, 2022.  This conference is open to prosecutors and law enforcement officers involved in the prosecution of vehicular assault and fatality cases.

The course will focus on trial advocacy skills in the context of prosecuting a vehicular assault or homicide and is intended for prosecutors who try these cases.  Working from a case file, there will be workshop segments on direct and cross examination of expert witnesses.  There will also be presentations on a variety of topics by experts from across the country.  The tentative course agenda and program registration form are attached.

The program is designed to educate prosecutors on the topics of crash reconstruction and prosecution of vehicular homicide cases with an emphasis on impaired drivers.  This training will use the team building approach with the attendance of law enforcement officers skilled in crash reconstruction.  It is most important that the prosecutors attending this valuable training opportunity commit their schedule to attend the entire course since the spaces are limited and because we are working to build this course into a comprehensive training on DUI prosecution.  Participant input and evaluation of the course is critical to the success of the program.  A detailed description of the course is attached.

Spaces will fill quickly, so register as soon as possible.  The deadline is the close of business on May 25, 2022.  To register,  please reach out to jreed@prosecutors.ky.gov or Kathy at Knphillips@prosecutors.ky.gov.
